Below I describe my standard Quality Assurance process, which of course changes depending on types of job requested and some other nuances that need to be taken into account on a case-by-case basis.

QA process:
Preparation stage
1. Study of all materials provided by the client.
2. Research of related specialized information:
2.1. study of the web-site of the company/organization itself (if available)
2.2. study of the Russian/Ukrainian version of any of the company’s/organization's already translated materials and already accepted terminology (if available)
2.3. study of the industry’s glossaries and terminology (paper and on-line )
Translation
3. Document is translated (often with Trados (TM software))
4. Document is proofread in terms of grammatical, punctuation and orthographical errors. (unclean, in Trados)
Linguistic QA
5. Document is proofread in terms of terminology consistency and readability and corrected to be read like original (unclean, in Trados).
6. Document is cleaned and proofread in terms of omitted errors and Trados cleaning errors.
Format QA
7. If necessary - Document’s layout, fonts, etc. are set as required or as was provided in original text.
Final QA
8. Secondary approver's proofreading is applied in some specializations (for example, Law, Technical/Engineering, Medical translations)
